This is a map of the various Native American tribes and the geographic/climate region they would have been located in. Native Americans upon European arrival did not see themselves as one united group and instead had a phenomenal number of differences that developed due to the various geographic regions they were located in. They spoke different languages, cultures, religions, norms and values. Many observed property as communal, did not have a concept of private ownership which was completely counter to a European norms and values. Additionally many were matrilineal with women holding positions of power and authority which also defied traditional patriarchial gender norms in Europe. These things led to culture clashes upon European arrival in the "New World".
